STRAPPING YOUNG LAD Axeman Rocks Out On Three Fronts

TENET, the new project featuring STRAPPING YOUNG LAD guitarist Jed Simon, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD/ex-DEATH drummer Gene Hoglan, GRIP INC. bassist Stuart Carruthers, and former SACRIFICE/current INTERZONE frontman Rob Urbinati, have finished demoing the material for the group's upcoming debut CD and are hoping to enter the studio in the next couple of months to begin tracking the effort. However, despite previous reports that the direction of the material would follow a death metal-type sound, “it isn't really a death metal thing anymore,” Simon revealed exclusively to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. “I find the 'old ways' creeping back in to my writing and that is refreshing…speed metal rules! It is goin' awesome..the demos are done and we just gotta get on rehearsing..I just wish that Rob was closer [Urbinati lives in Toronto, while the rest of the group resides in Vancouver]. Oh, well, We'll make it work. We were planning on hitting the studio for the bed tracks in the next couple months as long as the new STRAPPING YOUNG LAD doesn't happen first.”

In related news, work is progressing on the upcoming third full-length CD from STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, with the band getting ready to enter the studio shortly to start recording the much-anticipated album.

“We wrote about half of [the material for the new SYL CD] on this last European tour and have been busy writing back at home and it is gonna be heavy..and dark..and all that,” explained the guitarist. “Everyone is excited about it.. Dev [Devin Townsend] especially and that's awesome..it feels like a family again!”

In other related news, ZIMMER'S HOLE, a long-running project featuring guitarist Simon and Stroud, are due to issue their latest effort, entitled Legion of Flames, in Europe shortly, with the rest of the world to follow soon. ZIMMER'S HOLE have also been confirmed for the With Full Force festival, which is scheduled to take place in Roitschjora, Germany (near Leipzig) at the Flugplatz (Airport) between July 5th and 7th.
